I hiked Heybrook Lookout the weekend before Thanksgiving based on a recommendation from a friend. It was a beautifully sunny day, and we couldn’t have asked for better weather on the cusp of winter! The hike itself is pretty easy – only 1 mile out and 1 mile back and not a whole lot of elevation climb. It meanders up through the woods bringing you to a lookout tower. At the top of the tower there are 365 views of the Cascades, that really no picture does much justice. I could imagine this hike would be beautiful at sunrise and hope to go back for it someday.
On a design note, I lettered the above logo with watercolor. I was recently inspired by Julia Manchik’s lettering in the calendar I purchased here and Glen Weisgerber’s demo here and thought I’d give it a try. I think it’s actually a little harder than calligraphy, is that just me? Distance Roundtrip: 2 miles
Elevation Gain: 850 ft
Family friendly: Yes
